Miguel B. O'Farrell

Miguel O’Farrell joined Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal in 1963 and as a partner he was a member of the Board of Directors. His area of specialization is focused on industrial property law and he advises national and foreign companies in licensing agreements, franchises and business law in general. He also has wide experience in litigation before the Federal Courts.

He graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de Buenos Aires; he has also obtained a degree from the New York University Inter-American Law Institute and has attended the Programa Alta Dirección from the Instituto de Altos Estudios Empresariales (IAE). He is also a mediator from both the Universidad Austral and from the Escuela de Abogacía de Buenos Aires and is an industrial property agent.

He has written various articles on topics related to his area of specialization in important national and foreign publications and he is the author of the section “Marcas y Patentes Internacionales” of the book “Negocios y Comercialización Internacional”. He teaches Patents and Trademarks in international law in the Escuela Argentina de la Exportación and has spoken in universities and national and international forums about subjects within his area of specialty.

He is currently the representative of the Argentine Section of the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI) and Director of the Argentine Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES). He is a member of the following institutions: Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, International Bar Associaton, Computer Law Association, Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Industrielle, Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Industrial and of the Asociación Argentina de Franchising. He was Vice-President of the Asociación Argentina de Agentes de la Propiedad Industrial for two consecutive terms from 1977 until 1981.
