Roberto E. Silva, Jr. joined Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal in 1993 and has been a partner since 1996. He specializes in corporate, commercial and banking law.Within his area of specialization he advises on privatizations, restructurings, foreign investments, capital market transactions (national and abroad), M&As, derivatives, securitizations, trusts and exchange controls.Previously he worked for the law firm Shearman & Sterling in New York in 1991 and 1992 and for Cárdenas, Hope and Otero Monsegur between 1984 and 1990.He graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1988 and obtained an MA at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign in 1991.He has written a number of articles on issues related to his areas of specialization. He has been an assistant professor of Monetary and Banking Law at the Universidad Católica Argentina. Likewise he was an assistant professor of Commercial Law I at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.He is a member of the Buenos Aires City Public Bar and member of several committees of the Banking Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA): E1 Legal Opinions (96-97) and Innovations in Financing Transactions (07-10).He has been distinguished among young lawyers by several publications (Latin Lawyer 2003, Apertura 2006 and Infobae 2005, amongst others); and among relevant specialists in his field by different foreign publications (inter alia, Chambers, International Who’s Who Legal of Banking Lawyers, PLC Which Lawyers, Best Lawyers, etc.).
